Mobisphere, 3G Mobile Networks and Android-Enabled Handsets

Welcome back. For about a week, I've posted numerous articles on the "Mobisphere"--comparable to the Blogosphere except we're talking mobile devices.

Mobisphere is the name of a company jointly owned by Siemens AG and NEC Corporation--two of the largest telecommunications companies in the world. Their mission since 1999 is to develop 3G UMTS mobile networks for mobile broadband data transission. The mobispheric handsets resulting from the partnership will be produced by other divisions of Siemens and NEC.

Meanwhile, other companies are working on the development of 4G networks. 4G data speed bandwidth standards are not defined yet, but 4G will have significant benefits over 3G, offered in the U.S. by AT&T (and soon T-Mobile) on the GSM side and Sprint and Verizon on the EVDO side. Presently, EVDO is faster than 3G, but location, handset type and other factors affect download speeds. That's why streaming videos sometimes "stall," because carrier networks are not able to deliver data fast enough to handsets. 4G networks will not have this problem. Multi-media (text, pictures, audio and video) will stream to your mobile handset faster than a T1-land-based connection.

As I continue posting on the ideal Mobispheric phone on MarketingBeyond, here and on Mobile Telephony Innovations, now you know that the MOBISPHERE exists as a company and as a description of Android-based open systems software eventually resulting in the most sophhisticated mobile devices ever developed. Thanks to Google for supplying the cash and underlying OS.
